Leo is a sweet confident boy who could do anything! He loves everyone and has never met a stranger. He especially adores small children and babies, and seeks them out if he hears them upset. He loves being pet, and he'll lean against you and look up at you adoringly the entire time you pet him. He is spunky and playful with a medium energy level, and loves zooming around the  yard, playing with other dogs, and playing fetch with a ball. He is calm in the home and is happy laying near or against his people.

    About Leo

Leo is  confident, goofy, intelligent, sweet, and food- and praise- motivated. He loves everyone and has never met a stranger. He especially adores small children and babies, and seeks them out if he hears them upset. He loves being pet by people of all ages. He'll lean against you and look up at you adoringly the entire time you pet him. He is spunky and playful with a medium energy level, and loves zooming around the  yard, playing with other dogs, and playing fetch with a ball. He is calm in the home and is happy laying near or against his people. He strongly prefers to be with his person all the time.

Leo is good with other dogs, cats, children and fine with rabbits, lizards, and fenced chickens.

He's great on the grooming table.

He's good travelling in a vehicle and does not get carsick.

He has learned his obedience foundations nicely, is doing well with public access training, and is looking for a client match for task training! He would be a good match for a child in need of a service dog due to his attraction to children. He would also do well with an adult.

Leo could do anything! He has good potential for psychiatric support, mobility assistance (non weight-bearing), and medical assistance. He has begun Deep Pressure Therapy (DPT) training and is a natural - his hugs are the best! We will be evaluating his nose soon to see his potential for medical alert and/or Search & Rescue Trailing for elopers.

Leo's Training: Obedience (sit, down, implied stays, recall, place, loose leash walking, heel, leave it, door boundaries, kennel, house manners), Deep pressure therapy (lap, over, hugs),  Behavior Interruption (Nuzzle), Public Access, Retrieval, and will be trained in any other tasks needed.

History: We acquired Leo when his family could no longer care for him due to a family illness. His parentage is unknown to us, though we do have a picture of his sire, available upon request.

Health Testing: OFA eyes (clear), basic cardiac (clear), and hip preliminaries (inconclusive - will redo at 24 mos of age). Embark DNA: One copy of Von Willebrand Disease Type I (Type I vWD), a blood clotting disorder. With only one copy, he may not be affected or it may be very mild. The vet was unconcerned.

1 copy of something that will never affect him, only offspring - he will not be bred. All other issues tested are CLEAR.

    Leo's potentials

    • Psychiatric Service Dog
    • Search Service Dog
    • Autism Assistance
    • Mobility (non weight-bearing)
    • Good partner for a physically robust child
